Know what the weather will be when you get there

Bergradar puts the forecast on your route: for every kilometre it shows the weather in the hour you are there. Not the forecast for some arbitrary time, but the one for your way.

The weather at your arrival time

You enter the start and your pace, Bergradar works out when you are at which point, and picks the matching hour of the forecast. So you see that the rain only arrives when you are already in the valley – or that it catches you right on the summit.

Wind from your direction of travel

Wind is not just shown as a number but relative to your direction: headwind, crosswind, tailwind, plus the share of each along the route. On a bike you know beforehand where it will be hard going.

The best start time

An hour earlier or later can make all the difference. Bergradar compares the possible start times of the coming days and names the day and time that suit this route best.

Elevation profile with fog and clouds

In the elevation profile you see at what height clouds and fog lie and where your route passes through them. Plus climbs, summits and sections by surface – from asphalt to natural ground.

Darkness, air and pollen

Bergradar tells you when the sun rises and sets and whether you would be out in the dark for the rest of the way. For allergy sufferers there is air quality and pollen along the route, with lower thresholds if you set your profile accordingly.

A description that fits the tour

From route, terrain and weather comes a short text: what matters today, where it gets hard, what to watch out for. For tours with an official source, such as the Malerweg, we link to it directly.

How it works

  1. Load a route. Upload a GPX file or draw a route on the map.
  2. Choose day and time. Set the start and your pace. Bergradar works out the arrival times.
  3. Decide. Read off weather, wind and start time and set off when it suits. If you watch the tour, we write to you as soon as the forecast changes noticeably.
