The Ústí nad Labem Region in northern Czechia connects the Ore Mountains with a varied landscape along the Elbe. The region extends from the sandstone landscapes of Bohemian Switzerland to the forested highlands of the Krušné hory, the Czech part of the Ore Mountains.
Bohemian Switzerland, the Central Bohemian Uplands and the Ore Mountains offer a wide range of hiking and trail running routes with climbs, rock formations and forest sections. The quieter roads, forest tracks and longer climbs of the Ore Mountains are also well suited to MTB, gravel and road cycling.
Weather conditions can change noticeably over short distances. Fog and lower temperatures can occur in river valleys while higher ridges may already be sunny or exposed to stronger winds. Elevation, time of day and expected arrival time therefore play an important role in route planning.
