The Karlovy Vary Region in western Czechia forms an important part of the Czech Ore Mountains. The region extends from the forested highlands of the Krušné hory to the landscapes around Karlovy Vary, Cheb and Mariánské Lázně.
The northern areas around Klínovec, Boží Dar, Jáchymov and the surrounding Ore Mountain highlands offer a wide range of opportunities for hiking, trail running, MTB, gravel and road cycling. Long climbs, forest tracks and quiet secondary roads make the region particularly suitable for endurance and outdoor activities.
Weather conditions in the higher parts of the Ore Mountains can differ considerably from those in lower areas. Wind on exposed ridges, fog in depressions and rapid weather changes can significantly affect a route. On longer tours, daylight and estimated arrival times also become important factors.
Bergradar calculates the weather forecast kilometre by kilometre along the route and takes the estimated arrival time and selected activity into account. This makes it possible to consider wind, fog, precipitation and darkness during route planning.
